We often have calls on how to cook our products.  Our plan to print a recipe book has turned into a web page.  Following are some recipes that you can use with our products.  The eMoyeni Yellow Mealie Meal can also be used in place of polenta.

Yellow Mealie Meal Porridge

For 2 to 3 people: Put 1 cup mealie meal into a jug, and fill with cold water.  Stir until well mixed.  Leave to stand and then pour water out, leaving only the mealie meal in the bottom of the jug.

Bring 3 cups water to the boil in a saucepan.  Add salt to taste.  Add the mealie meal and allow to simmer, stirring occasionally, for a minimum of 20 minutes before serving.  Enjoy with a topping of your choice - honey, butter, cream, milk........

Amabele Porridge

Mix 1 cup eMoyeni Amabele with 1 cup cold water and salt to taste in a saucepan.  Place on stove and add 2-3 cups boiling water, while stirring.  Once boiling simmer for 15 mins.  Stir occasionally.  Serves 3-4.  Enjoy with topping of your choice.

Krummelpap (Phutu) 

500ml (2 cups) water                            5ml (1tsp) salt

750ml (3 cups) eMoyeni Yellow mealie meal

Bring water and salt to the boil in a heavy-based saucepan.  Add the mealie meal (do not stir), cover with a lid and simmer for 15 minutes.  Stir with a fork until the porridge becomes crumbly.  Simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Serves 4-6.
